Key Achievement

Before

Three years ago, I was sleeping in my car. I'd lost my apartment, my job at a warehouse, and most of my family had stopped returning my calls. I'd been through two rehab programs — both times I relapsed within weeks of leaving. I genuinely believed I was one of those people who couldn't be helped. The shame of that belief was almost worse than the addiction itself.

The Turning Point

A counselor at a community center handed me a flyer about Empower Recovery. I almost threw it away. But the tagline stuck with me: 'His Words. Our Work. Greater Things.' Something about it didn't sound like the clinical language I was used to hearing. I signed up for the free starter guide that night from a library computer.

The Journey

The starter guide was the first time recovery felt like something I was doing FOR myself, not something being done TO me. The Observer Practice on Day 1 — just watching my thoughts without judging them — that was revolutionary. I'd spent years being told to 'fight' my thoughts. Nobody had ever told me I could just watch them. I started the 7-Day Reset the next week. Then the 14-Day Discovery. By the time I enrolled in the full 369 Method, I was already a different person. But those nine months took me somewhere I didn't know existed. Month 3 (Awareness) was brutal. I saw patterns I'd been running from my entire life — not just addiction, but the shame loops, the people-pleasing, the belief that I was fundamentally broken. Month 6 (Alignment) was where things started clicking. I learned that my values and my actions didn't match, and that gap was where the pain lived. By Month 9 (Transformation), I wasn't trying to be sober anymore. I just was.

After

Today I run a peer recovery group at the same community center where I picked up that flyer. I have my own apartment. My sister and I talk every Sunday. I'm not 'in recovery' the way I used to think about it — I'm just living a life that doesn't need escaping from. The 369 Method didn't save my life. It gave me a life worth saving.
